Trashed – Detailed Pencil Illustration
When visiting the remote Central Queensland town where I grew up, I go on daily walks. On one visit, I was drawn to these flattened beer cans as found objects – bleached to a gleaming white-silver by the blazing sun, culturally loaded, and strangely aesthetic.
Spending time shading every tiny shadow and crease, I realised how observing the overlooked, throwaway details of everyday objects reveals a lot about who we are and how we live.
The detailed, delicate pencil drawings reflect on the social constructs around drinking, car culture, and the identity of place.
